What to expect during the first meeting.
I will schedule a convenient time to stop by in the evening or on a Saturday to see the project area and discuss your ideas. It would be helpful if you have already visited outdoor display gardens at retail stone yards. Mr. Mulch, Lang Stone, and Coffman Stone have excellent outdoor displays. Visit your local garden centers and see all of the wonderful flowering plants available. You can also look at gardening /outdoor stone work magazines and books.
Once you have a good idea of what you are looking for we can discuss your budget for the project. It is best to come up with a project budget before the design process begins. In this way I can come up with a custom design that meets your needs and wants while staying within your budget.

About Us
Hi my name is Herb Techmer and I am the owner of Techmer Stone Works. I have over 15 years of professional hands on experience in the fields of stone masonry landscape horticulture, landscape design, nursery production, and construction.
I was raised in upstate New York where I worked for my father’s landscaping and retail nursery business for many years. My father started his business 30 years ago when he immigrated to America from Germany. Horst Techmer (my father) learned the art and science of horticulture from master horticulturists in Germany. My father taught me a lot while working for the family business.

Later on I attended The Ohio State University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Horticulture. During college I served in the United States Army Reserve as a Combat Engineer where I gained experience in project survey & construction. After I graduated from Ohio State I worked as an assistant nursery manager in Atlanta, GA. I also worked as a construction inspector for an engineering firm located in Columbus Ohio
I am now working as an independent contractor servicing the community by creating unique outdoor living spaces for my clients.
